Ticking the ‘Calculate Frame Count & Delay’ checkbox in the properties panel causes the number of images in the frame panel to update dynamically as you adjust the length of a clip. These two tools can also be used together. You can copy some or all of those frames as ‘Saved’ frames and then reorder or delete individual frames, and render a GIF from just the saved frames.
